Reset Your Password

PVAMU Faculty, Staff, and Students often face challenges when they forget their passwords. For instance, a student trying to access their course materials may find themselves locked out of their account due to a forgotten password. This situation can cause significant frustration and delay in accessing essential university resources.

Problem

Many PVAMU users encounter difficulties when resetting their PVAMU passwords, which is essential for maintaining access to key services like email, Canvas/eCourses, and PVPlace. Common issues include not receiving verification codes, being unable to complete the self-reset process, or not having registered for password reset. These challenges can lead to frustration and delays in accessing important university resources. Addressing these problems involves understanding the steps required for a successful password reset and knowing how to troubleshoot common obstacles.

Solution

You can reset your password by clicking on the Reset Your Password button (at the bottom of the page) or by contacting CITE Service Desk by calling ext. 2525. Before you reset your password, make sure you have your PVAMU email address ready.

Pro tip: Please do not share your password with anyone or write it down. You should also change your password regularly and use a strong passphrase containing letters, numbers, and symbols.

Steps

Please follow the instructions below:

  1. Click Here or click on the "Reset Your Password" button at the end of these steps to reset your password
  2. You will be prompted to enter your PVAMU email address and the characters in the CAPTCHA image. Please enter your PVAMU email address as username@pvamu.edu. Then “Next”

Get back into your account

  1. Open your Microsoft authenticator app and enter the one-time verification code provided by the app. After entering the code, click 'Next' to proceed.

  1. Once you have verified your identity using the authenticator app, you will be taken to the 'create a new password' pop-up. Create a new password then select "Finish." You can now log into office.com using the password you just reset.
    1. Use at least 12-16 characters.
    2. Create a strong password that can’t be easily guessed or cracked.
    3. Work or school account passwords require each of the following:
      1. Lower Case Letters
      2. Upper Case Letters
      3. Numbers (0-9)
      4. Symbols, including: ! @ # $ % ^ & * + = [ ] { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ~ “ < > ( ) ;

 

SMS optionTroubleshooting Note: If you have changed your password in the past 24 hours or if it does not meet the criteria above, you will get this error: "We ran into a problem. Please try again." If you think it was just a mistake while typing, try one more time. If you get this error again, wait 24 hours before trying again. Contact x2525 if you reach this error and need additional assistance.
