This article aims to clarify the access process for different user types by providing a clear and concise guide. By following the steps outlined below, users can ensure they have the necessary access to perform their job duties effectively.

Steps

For Employees:

  1. The supervisor will work with the appropriate Information Owners to determine the necessary access classes for the employee.
  2. The supervisor must complete the Banner Account Request Form, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
  3. The employee must provide a copy of their TrainTraq transcript showing completion of FERPA and Information Security Awareness training. This document must be attached to the Banner Security Access Form.
  4. Once the form is processed, both the employee and supervisor will be notified.
  5. The employee must attend the Banner Navigation Training, held monthly. Special training sessions can be scheduled if necessary, and departments can conduct their own training, provided they submit a copy of the Training Acknowledgement form.

For Vendor/Contractor/Non-PVAMU Employee:

  1. The individual must complete the Special Purpose AD Account request form, with the sponsoring department acting as the sponsor.
  2. The sponsoring department will work with the appropriate Information Owners to determine the necessary access classes.
  3. The sponsoring department must complete the Banner Account Request Form.
  4. The individual will receive information from EVERFI to complete FERPA and Information Security Awareness training.
  5. Once the form is processed, the sponsoring department will be notified and can train the individual on the required tasks.

For Panthertracks Advisor Access:

  1. The employee’s supervisor or the sponsoring department head (for vendors/contractors) must complete the Panthertracks Advisor Request Form.
  2. Advisor access is initially given to tenure and tenure-track faculty members upon their employment at the university.
  3. The supervisor must ensure all information is accurate and complete.
  4. The supervisor will work with the Registrar to assess if Advisor access is needed.
  5. The employee must provide a copy of their TrainTraq transcript showing completion of FERPA and Information Security Awareness training. This document must be attached to the Panthertrack Advisor Access Form.
  6. If access is approved:
    • For current faculty members, access will be granted immediately, and the supervisor will be notified.
    • For non-teaching staff, the supervisor will be notified and asked to schedule Panthertracks Navigation Training for the user.

Banner 9 works on all major web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari, with Chrome being the recommended browser for optimal performance. Users are advised to clear their browser cache if they experience any issues and avoid using incognito or private browsing mode. Access to the system is controlled by administrative offices, and users must have a business need to access specific records

There are two instances of Banner information, PROD and TEST. PROD has current/up to date information and TEST has the previous days data and is used mainly for testing of forms and processes.
