Banner Access

PVAMU Employee

In order to gain access to Banner you will have to follow the instructions/steps provided below:

  1. The supervisor will work with the appropriate Information Owners to determine what classes the user will need access to fulfill their job duties.
  2. The employee’s supervisor will have to complete the Banner Account Request Form. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that the user’s information is complete and correct.
  3. Employee must provide provide a copy of the TrainTraq transcript showing that the FERPA and the Information Security Awareness training have been completed. This document must be attached to the Banner Security Access Form.
  4. Once the form has been processed the employee and the supervisor will be notified and its the responsibility of the employee to attend the Banner Navigation Training that is held monthly. In certain circumstances special training sessions can be scheduled or departments have the ability to conduct the training themselves but they must submit a copy of the Training Acknowledgement form back to our office.

Vendor/Contractor/Non-PVAMU Employee

  1. The individual will need to complete the Special Purpose AD Account request form. The department that needs this individuals service will be the sponsoring department and should complete the form.

  2. The sponsoring department will work with the appropriate Information Owners to determine what classes the user will need access to fulfill their job duties.have to complete the Banner Account Request Form.

  3. The sponsoring department will complete the Banner Account Request Form.

  4. The individual will be contacted with information from EVERFI to go in and complete the FERPA and the Information Security Awareness training.

  5. Once the form has been processed the sponsoring department will be notified and the sponsoring department can train the individual on the tasks to be performed.

Panthertracks Advisor Access

In order to gain Advisor access you will have to follow the instructions/steps provided below:

  1. The employee’s supervisor or in the case of a outside vendor/contractor, the sponsoring department head will have to complete the Panthertracks Advisor Request Form. Advisor access is only initially given to tenure and tenure-track faculty members upon their employment at the university. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that the user’s information is complete and correct.
  2. The supervisor will work with the Registrar to assess if Advisor access is needed.
  3. Employee must provide provide a copy of the TrainTraq transcript showing that the FERPA and the Information Security Awareness training have been completed. This document must be attached to the Panthertrack Advisor Access Form.
  4. If the access is approved the following will happen:
    • If user is a current faculty member, access will be granted immediately and the supervisor will be notified.
    • If user is a non-teaching staff, the supervisor will be notified and asked to schedule Panthertracks Navigation Training for the user.

If you have a Banner related project that needs to be initiated, please visit https://www.pvamu.edu/itgc/project-management/ to determine the complexity of the project. You will then be redirected to submit the project for approval by the governance committee.

Banner is a software application developed specifically for higher education institutions and is used to maintain alumni, financial, student and personnel data. There are two instances of Banner information, PROD and TEST. PROD has current/up to date information and TEST has the previous days data and is used mainly for testing of forms and processes.
The Banner Document Management system holds all documents pertaining to a student’s record. This system is maintained by the various owners of information in Banner.
